    August 24-28, 2015

I enjoyed being with my eighth graders this week!  They are great leaders for our combined class, and I appreciate the example they set.  We have so much to accomplish in a short class period, so I truly need their work ethic!  This week we will reinforce skills used in the scientific method, focusing first on the vocabulary of the scientific method: question, hypotheses, variables (independent, dependent, constant, controlled), testable questions, and conclusion.  Students will also review science tools and lab safety.  Class teams will conduct an experiment and communicate results in written format.

Back To School Welcome & Introduction

    Welcome 6th, 7th & 8th Graders & Parents!

This school year will be filled with learning, growing and creating life long school memories.  You will have a variety of educational experiences, through collaborative presentations, research projects, and discovering meaningful applications for your life.

As your homeroom teacher, I want to introduce myself to you. I am Ms. Kristina Kirk, and many of you will know me as the Physical Education teacher, as well as, Drew and Jayden’s Mom.  For my family we are starting our 4th year at Christ Church School.  This school has been a true gift to all of us.

In previous years, I have had the privilege to substitute teach, each grade at our school, part of the teaching staff for the PE department, Summer Enrichment Camp Coordinator and prior  President of Parents Plus, at our school.  This year I am specifically looking forward to being your homeroom, Bible and PE teacher.

My passion is to make the Bible relevant for your life. So we will journey together, focusing on Church History and exploring lessons learned from the Early Church.  We will discuss the biblical truths the 1st Century Church experienced and how it relates to God’s design for the church today.

Our homeroom classroom is on the 2nd floor, located at the end of the hallway.  Please be sure to stop by our homeroom tomorrow evening at our school's 'Open House' and bring your school supplies.  I trust you and your family will also enjoy your time at the annual Fish Fry.

    Thoughtfully~
    Ms. Kristina Kirk

Math for Week of August 19-21, 2015

    Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to the 8th Grade Math Blog.  I am really excited about this year.  I will be teaching 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Math and 5th grade Reading and History.

Let me introduce myself to the parents and students that do not know me.  My name is Lanelle Holbrook.  This is my third year at Christ Church School and have greatly enjoyed each year.  I think we have the best children in Temple at this school!

I taught in the Temple Independent School District for sixteen years, before I retired.  After a couple years of being retired, I missed the children and the fun of the classroom.  So I came back to teaching and have not regretted it at all.  The children keep me young :)!

I am a mother of three children, the grandmother of two children, and the great grandmother of two children also.  I love each of them and can talk to you all day about any of them.  My youngest granddaughter graduated from High School in June, and have taken college classes this summer.  My great grandchildren are 5 years old and 1 year old.  They are precious!

I am excited to learn about you and your family when school begins.

We will begin these first few days with getting to know each other and getting to know the rules and expectations, and for the new students we will take a tour of the school.

I am excited about seeing you on Sunday!

    Lanelle Holbroook

    Mrs. Carroll (8)

    Welcome to Physics (grades 6,7,and 8) -
I am Mrs. Sarah Carroll and together we will explore all of those questions about how things work through the study of physical science (forces, motion, energy).

We will begin this first week by organizing an interactive science notebook which will be used continually throughout the year.  We will also prepare a science vocabulary notebook (expect a vocabulary quiz every Friday as of August 28!)

I look forward to  seeing you in class on Wednesday, August 19 at 12:45-1:30!

This week we will be getting to know one another, getting our books, and reviewing a few concepts from last year. I'm excited to see everyone at the Open House and Fish Fry on Sunday!

    See you soon!
